Celebrating 10 years of IFGS

This week, we were delighted to join the Innovate Finance team in celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Innovate Finance Global Summit (IFGS).

The conference, held at Guildhall over two days, gathered more than 1,500 thought leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers from the global FinTech ecosystem.

From its inception, IFGS has been at the forefront of fostering innovation and collaboration within the financial technology sector. We are proud to have supported with agenda curation, media relations and on-the-day coordination at every conference since the very beginning, in 2015, including this year’s.

Kicking off with CEO Janine Hirt on Bloomberg TV on Monday, while making front page headlines in City AM before hosting the first meeting of the Unicorn Council with the sector’s most influential leaders, we saw two days of empowering and impactful conversations about FinTech’s next generation, driven by more than 300 speakers representing every part of financial services and the wider technology landscape.

Included in the roster of speakers were political figures such as Bim Afolami MP, Economic Secretary to the Treasury; Tulip Siddiq MP, Shadow City Minister; Lord Phillip Hammond, former Chancellor of the Exchequer; Lord Iain McNicol, and former General Secretary of the Labour Party. They were joined by the CEOs and founders of unicorn FinTechs including TrueLayer, Thought Machine, Clearbank, Zopa, Revolut, OakNorth, Monzo, Klarna, Starling, Robinhood, and Zilch; leaders from big tech and financial institutions, including the Bank of England, Citi, Google, Deutsche Bank, Mastercard, JP Morgan, and Lloyds; and investors including Andreesen Horowtiz, Augmentum, Outward VC, and Antler.

Closing the event were 10 incredible entrepreneurs pitching their innovative businesses at Pitch 360. Congratulations to the competition’s winners, Kestrl and Cogo, who demonstrated just how bright, sustainable and diverse the future of FinTech is in this country.

In her final remarks, Lou Smith, Chair of Innovate Finance, said her highlight of this year’s conference was the incredible level of representation across the board, later telling Finextra: “For me, what’s most exciting about this conference is actually having everybody in the room, which makes this the right place from a UK perspective to continue to drive forward.”

Huge congratulations to the Seven Hills events and media teams for all of their hard work alongside the brilliant Innovate Finance team in the weeks and months leading up to the Summit, to help to ensure IFGS 2024 was the best one yet.

Here’s to the next decade of innovation!
